Summary of Work:

In September of 2022, Grady Health System reached out to Warbird Consulting Partners to be their exclusive clinical recruiting partner, in order to open their new state of the art surgery center, the Correll Pavilion in Metro Atlanta. Warbird entered into a successful RPO (Recruitment Process Outsourcing) relationship with Grady. The Warbird team was comprised of 7 Senior Healthcare Recruiters, 1 Project Manager, and 1 Client Manager. Grady had approximately 200 open clinical roles for the surgery center. The majority of the roles were specialty nurses: OR RN’s, PACU RN’s, Endo and Infusion RN’s.

The main directive from Grady: Grady wanted to create a culture of clinical employees that were motivated to invest in the value of Grady and the city of Atlanta, and become long term, dedicated employees. In addition, the Covid pandemic was just ending, and Grady wanted Warbird to help end their reliance on Travel Nurses and their exorbitant rates.

Warbird set up a national recruiting strategy, and performed due diligence on focused geographical areas, and targeted academic institutions. Warbird had biweekly calls with Grady to present metrics that displayed all recruiting outreach and submissions. In addition, we worked closely with Grady HR on a daily basis to discuss candidate feedback, interviews, and employment offers. Warbird served as a trusted advisor in that we vetted all candidates from a clinical perspective, and organizational fit.

Grady’s new surgery center, the Correll Pavilion, successfully opened in Spring of 2023 with the help of Warbird and our clinical recruiting efforts. We successfully presented permanent clinical candidates, who will enhance and shape the culture of Grady Health System post pandemic.

Background:

Grady Health System first opened in 1892 and is now the 26th largest public nonprofit hospital in the United States, employing over 5000 team members. Grady Hospital is the only ACS verified Level 1 Trauma center in Atlanta. In 2013, Grady created the first neurological and surgical suite with a dedicated stroke center to remove blood clots from the brain of stroke victims.

Grady’s Physicians are on the faculty of Emory and Morehouse medical schools, they provide Grady patients with unparalleled care in specialties like cancer, urology, cardiology, neurology, and chronic disease, as well as the more routine, like family medicine and senior care.

Grady Health System is comprised of the Main Campus, the adjacent Correll Pavilion, and six, soon to be eight, facilities inside and outside the perimeter of Metro Atlanta.

Outcomes:

  • Successfully performed Clinical Recruiting, over 200 open requisitions
  • Devised national outreach strategy, due diligence in terms of geographical markets and academic institutions.
  • Implemented marketing strategy, researching, and employing various recruiting tools and subscriptions.
  • Successfully vetted candidates and streamlined the interview process.
  • Negotiated employment salaries.
  • Tracked and presented client metrics.
  • Led recruiting team and managed deliverables.

Conclusion:

Warbird Consulting Partners successfully led and completed an RPO project with Grady Health System that achieved several main objectives: Grady’s new surgery center, The Correll Pavilion was able to open on time, we facilitated the permanent hires of many specialty RN’s that allowed Grady to reduce Travel Nurse assignments, and we achieved a successful partnership with Grady that continues today.
