The 2022 No Surprises Act

The Revenue Cycle Minute is pleased to provide a conversation focused on the No Surprises Act. Effective January 2022, hospitals, providers, and payers must comply with the Federal No Surprises Act, ensuring that patients receive protection from surprise medical bills when they receive emergency services and some non-emergency services from out-of-network providers at in-network facilities. Providers, facilities, and health plans that bill patients in violation of the No Surprises Act are subject to civil monetary penalties of up to $10,000 per violation. 

This webinar summarizes the Act and details the requirements, responsibilities, and steps for achieving compliance. John has over 25 years of experience in healthcare financial management, hospital operations, physician practice administration, and revenue cycle management. He is an accomplished revenue cycle practitioner, focused on all aspects of revenue cycle operations, performance improvement, training, and education.

He has worked with hundreds of hospitals and physician practices to improve financial outcomes, compliance, and customer service. His clients include critical access hospitals, community hospitals, academic medical centers, large multi-specialty physician groups, rural health clinics, and sole physician practices.

Prior to joining Warbird, John helped create, introduce, and establish comprehensive revenue cycle services at Stroudwater Revenue Cycle Solutions while serving as its President. John has also served as Revenue Cycle Director and Financial Controller at two Academic Medical Centers as well as Physician Practice Administrator
for a large multi-specialty practice.
